But the Gipsy Tarot tradition is clear: this card is not primarily a card of suffering. It is a card of crisis that reveals truth. When the Misfortune card appears, something that has been building beneath the surface is being forced into the open. A situation that appeared stable is revealing a fault line. A relationship that seemed resolved has reached a genuine test point. A dynamic that has been tolerable is becoming intolerable. The card does not create the crisis — it reveals what was already there, and it forces an honest response. In a love or relationship reading, Misfortune is most often the card that marks a breaking point — not necessarily a breakup, but a moment where the relationship is being genuinely tested.
